McKeyla joins the party!
Her experiment is a lava lip gloss. I'm pretty sure I haven't tried the experiments in quite a long time. It sound neat but I kind of miss the more science-orientated experiments rather than the make-up stuff they're doing a lot of now. I have make-up already. I want fun stuff like they did in the first wave.
Her hair is the standard dark brown used for most McKeyla dolls (ironically the two deluxe versions of her I don't have both have a different hair color...go figure) in a high ponytail. It's a nice style and a refreshing change. Usually Camryn gets the high ponytails. My issue here is that it's quite tangly and a little greasy as well. It needs work.
Her face is, as per usual, stunning. Those glass eyes are some of the best things about these dolls. The painted versions of these just aren't as nice. She has silver eyeshadow and a pearlescent lip gloss as her make-up this time around. It's nice to see them change the make-up every time there's a new version. Her earrings look like screws with wings. I'll leave it at that.
She comes with a purple purse (I LOVE this shade of purple) with a grey chain which is a very literal chain. It matches her outfit - a dark purple sequins dress and a silver jacket. The dress hits the floor and has a slit that shows off the right knee. The sequins do fall off at times. There's a black ribbon as a belt, and part of the dress is a cut-out at the very side with flesh-tone tulle. The neckline is a v-neck with ribbon straps. This is all sort of hidden by her jacket. It's a faux leather, like classic Barbie silver leather (if that makes any sense) and it's got a real retro feel to it. It limits the arm movement slightly, but who wouldn't sacrifice a little arm movement for a bomb jacket?
This is my first McKeyla with heels. The first and third versions have flats and I assume the second version does too (still looking for her!). The sole and heel of her shoes are actually translucent plastic, with black paint for the main body and silver studded straps. They aren't incredibly quirky, but McKeyla isn't really that quirky of a character. It's on brand.
She has the standard Project Mc2 articulation, but her knees are less floppy. She still can't stand up on her own.
What I love about this doll is that she isn't out-there and individualized like the other dolls. She's very regular and girl-next door, and that's been translated into this outfit. Obviously I love the unique touches of aztec on Camryn, or the floral theme with Ember, but look at this dress! It feels like something that you could commission for prom. And that's ideal for McKeyla.
I'm glad to finally have this doll and hopefully I'll find the other three...somehow.
But if my order had came complete in the first place, like it should have, I wouldn't have this problem. Oh well. Such is life.
