Six out of twelve ain't bad...
My Starland-themed Star Darling collection is complete! Or at least it definitely is complete for now, I'm still considering the Toys R Us exclusive Sage with MO-J4. I'll get back to you on that one.
But the five original dolls are here along with my Toys R Us exclusive Cassie. They look so good together! Just so colourful and vibrant, and here's where I notice the height difference between the two body types. The three on your left (Scarlet, Vega and Leona) have the shorter body, whereas Libby, Sage and Cassie have the taller body, despite being younger than the others. It's especially strange for Cassie considering she's supposed to be petite in the books.
But this is taking me down my rant path again, because this line could have been way more successful! And honestly, I've said this before and I'll say it again, Disney are at fault for this. Maybe Jakks Pacific as well for the doll issues. Why did we have to have four editions of the same wave of dolls? Surely if the band element is so important, why did we need the ring versions in the first place? Why did we get seven versions of Sage (four of them being the exact same doll and outfit) but no Astra, Adora or Clover dolls whatsoever? That is flawed with a capital everything. That is FLAWED.
Yet the books were so cohesive, so detailed, giving attention to all twelve of the characters, but the web series and doll line were so skewed towards the band members that it completely ignored the other seven, just as important members. At least Cassie finally got a Starland version.
I know I'm basically repeating what I said in my open letter, but I'm just so perplexed...how the hell did something with so much potential get dragged through the mud like this? The mind boggles.
Still, I'll enjoy my six out of twelve Star Darlings.
