Commanding the lookout, father and child

Pilliga Scrub, Timmallallie National Park, Sculpture Walk: 'First Lesson' by Brett Garling: “…see it as a landscape painting as well as a sculpture”. (cast sculpture) (November 2011)

"Each sculpture is the result of an artist collaborating with local Aboriginal Elders and young people on a piece that tells a story of local Aboriginal history and culture." www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/walking-tracks/...

This collection of commissioned sculptures has been installed along the high side of a gorge or valley in the Timmallallie National Park in the Pilliga Scrub. The pieces range from the representational to the abstract. I love the way this piece, father & child, plays with that typical stance, and commands the outlook at the lookout.

The best reference to it I have found really gives you a flavour of the whole: www.retiredaussies.com/ColinsHome%20Page/GreatWalks/NSW/P...
