Echidna on the move

Candid capture of an Echidna on the move, or on a roll as my friend Jenny would say

They can really move those little ant-eaters! This is one of those times when you just happen to be in the right place at the right time... Another two seconds and it was off into the scrub on the other side of the road (and barely visible in what my husband calls "a search picture").

Little known fact: Echidna are not only mamals but a very special version of mammals called a Monotreme or "Egg-laying Mammals. There are only five living monotreme species: the duck-billed platypus and four species of echidna (also known as spiny anteaters). All of them are found only in Australia and New Guinea.' [Wikipedia] How special is that! And now you've seen one!
