'Tree Noir by Su_G': curtain panels mockup 1 of 2

'Tree Noir by Su_G' in a curtain panels mockup 1 of 2 (c/o Spoonflower & Roostery)

These abstracted shapes could be tree trunks or venetian blinds... or some other mystery.

Line art.

My inspiration is certain groups of tree trunks that you see here & there, and the way Indigenous people decorated them to make ceremonial & funeral grounds of great elegance. Almost none are left in Australia, but I have seen pictures.

For more info on the source, the best I can find is from an exhibition held by the State Library of New South Wales in 2011: 'Carved trees: Aboriginal cultures of western NSW' @ www2.sl.nsw.gov.au/archive/events/exhibitions/2011/carved.... The downloadable exhibition guide reproduces many of the original photographs from early last century and before, as well as other information. Unfortunately there are very few pictures of massed or grouped trees in place, which must have been an amazing sight & experience.
