Substance Abuse, Mental Health, and Victim Safety Counselor
Patti of the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault is one of the most incredible people I've met. She has been working as a counselor for decades and working as a victim advocate, trainer, and educator to prevent people from perpetrating violence and to help victims get safe and heal from violence. We have been working together to train rural responders (Behavioral Health Aides and the like) throughout Alaska on Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault (DVSA). She really knows her stuff, so she engages the participants with both lots of factual knowledge and great demonstrations of empathy and careful considerations of victim safety and dignity.
*If you or someone you know is experiencing physical or sexual violence and/or is being controlled & coerced by their partner, you can get help by calling the national sexual violence hotline: 1-800-656-HOPE or the national domestic violence hotline: 1−800−799−SAFE(7233). Also, if you are abusing others or know someone who is, please ask the national hotline for resources to get help and stop the cycle of violence. *
