Scottish 'Lum'.
12.7.2015. This free standing stone chimney is one of two solitary 'lums' which can be found on the roadside between Tomintoul and Grantown-on-Spey. They were originally used by the roadmen who were responsible for the upkeep of this stretch of road in the 1920's and 30's.
For shelter, the men used a portable wooden hut which was set up against the chimneys allowing them to have a fire - very useful during the vagaries of the Scottish weather!
