There is a beautifully varied blend of cool colors in this figure - from Catwoman's lipstick, the dark blue/purple mohawk, and even the subtle difference between the torso blue and the hands blue. In my opinion, choosing the Death Metal Batman legs instead of Blue Beetle's really saves this figure from having TOO much blue in it; it also adds a nice amount of texture on the bottom part of the fig.

These Dollotrons work so well for two main reasons. The first is the head choice - what else can better portray emotional vapidity and loss of identity better than the classic Lego smiley face? The second reason is due to the hair choice, of which the wavy texture perfectly evokes the linear and rather disequilibrating instability of Frank Quitely's unique pencil style (the artist on Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin).

This was the first Mr. Mxyzptlk of stupendous quality I had seen on Flickr, and I almost beat Nick to the punch if I hadn't delayed my Superman villains shot! Regardless, his version knocks mine out of the park with the addition of the 5D Imp's infamous sideburns. I don't see many purist figs that feature both headgear and hair - that in and of itself is very innovative.

All of the figs in this shot are great, but Doctor Strange is the real reason it's included in this gallery. To my knowledge, this is the only purist 616-Strange (minus the vambraces, which I personally believe are unnecessary here) on the Internet that doesn't feature an excessive amount of bright yellow, which ruins the look of the figure. Here, two shades of blue are accentuated perfectly with gold highlights, and I'm particularly impressed by the choice of legs.

It's more uncommon than you might expect to see quality figbarfs of major DC events prior to the Flashpoint. I chalk it up to not only the relative age of most TFOLs/young AFOLs on Flickr, but also the site's overall preoccupation with "easier to access" DC properties such as Batman, CW shows, and the DCEU. Therefore, having such a well-shot and well-designed CoIE figbarf such as this one is a rare and welcome site for me.

Never mind the cleanliness of the editing, the insanely sharp focus, or the spot-on accuracy of the figure combo; what I like most about this photograph is how perfectly positioned Nightcrawler's teleportation afterblasts are such that the viewer can easily retrace his path of movements through the frame of the shot.

The custom Arkham Knight minifigures I see on the Internet tend to be (in my personal opinion) ruined by either sloppy or overdetailed sculpting. Furthermore, a lot of the purist customs tend to lack enough detail to replicate the technicality of Jason's suit. Even without the aftermarket vambraces (which could be replicated by incorporating the black/bluish grey dual-molded arms), I believe that Dylan's purist Arkham Knight is one of, if not the best on Flickr. The use of the vintage Space head is perfect for retaining the blue eye color while adding some printed greebling to the exposed cowl mouthpiece area. The Hawkeye hips and Ant-Man legs look excellent together as well.

Monsieur Mallah and the Brain compose one of the most bizarre duos in comic book fandom, and Evan did an impeccable job at portraying them in purist form (I just love the little beret). I have a soft spot for these two relatively obscure characters simply because of how comically horrific their deaths were at the hands of Gorilla Grodd.

In my opinion, this is one of the most efficient and laudable purist combos I have seen on Flickr. It is highly accurate, visually cohesive, and most notably, economically sound. This last point is a true rarity on Flickr, as most customizers tend to seek out the most accurate parts to manifest their designs, regardless of how rare or expensive the part may be. In this case, almost every part in this combo is present in multiple sets! The Mohawk and arms come from rather common and cheap CMFs, the head is from a minifigure that most Lego collectors complained was overabundant in the original GoTG sets (and most customizers probably have duplicates of as a result, minimizing the burden of retaining the combo), while the torso and legs are not only present in multiple sets, but can be easily substituted with whatever generic, military-looking parts one might have in their collection.

I can't even begin to describe how perfect these figs are. Very few people on Flickr have dared to tackle any of Barbatos' Dark Knights, but Evan has managed to create ALL SEVEN of them with uncanny source accuracy and gorgeous colorways. Dawnbreaker and Drowned are my personal favorites in this group, and TBWL deserves some merit as well.
Nothing here yet.
