[DC] The Beginning

Judging by the disproportionate ratio of Zero Year full suit to crossbow suit customs I've seen on Flickr, I have serious doubts that everyone who's made the latter fig has even read the entire event, or can even name who wrote and drew the N52 Batman run off the top of their head. I think this is a good example of how the Flickr Lego community is a little too "follow the leader-ey," in that customs are made simply because other customizers are making them.

 

Mini-rant aside, here's the very first appearance suit of Batman in the New 52 DC continuity! I tried to replicate the ribbing on Batman's arms and legs with the parts you see in the photo. I'm currently catching up on the entire N52 Batman run (which is absolutely amazing on all counts), and although Zero Year isn't exactly my favorite arc, the kaleidoscopic inks and tense interactions between Bruce and a semi-green Captain Gordon are really enjoyable elements. I'm not sure if Zero Year was fully or partially retconned by Superman: Reborn; hopefully DC will have the brains to publish an updated guide to continuity after this November's Doomsday Clock.
