A helping hand

PADDY:

Hello Bobby... nice to meet you.

Peter asked me to help you with reading aloud because you say you're not very good at it.

BOBBY:

Yes, Paddy, I love reading and I would really like to read aloud, preferably from the book Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. I don't think I can do it.

PADDY:

Have you tried it before?

BOBBY:

Yes... when I'm alone, it's fine, but when I read aloud to someone, I start stuttering.

PADDY:

You can do it, I promise.

I have a book here that will help you. It's a gift from the Fairy Mother. (Paddy opens the book)

BOBBY:

Oh... letters are coming out of the book!!!!!

PADDY:

Look closely at the letters, close your eyes and believe in yourself.

(Bobby closes his eyes)

After 2 minutes:

PADDY:

Now open your eyes again.

How do you feel, Bobby?

BOBBY:

I feel so...so...I want...I want to read aloud.

PADDY:

Here is the book of Little Red Riding Hood.

Go ahead and read aloud.

Bobby reads from the book of Little Red Riding Hood without stuttering.

BOBBY:

I did it... I did it.

Oh... thank you, Paddy!

PADDY:

Actually, you should thank the Fairy Mother.

Come on... let's go to Peter, Rosie, Scout and my very best friend Oleg, and you can read Little Red Riding Hood to them.
