Back to the old "usual"
I think the last time we were here I was finally able to try the Schweinshaxe at Zum Stammtich, which is a large German pork shank (aka pork knuckle, or ham hock). And it was damn good, but for years THIS plate has been my entree of choice, it's the Bauern Platte (Farmer's Plate), consisting of a a bratwurst, a Kaissler Rippchen (smoked pork chop) and some Leberkäse (liver cheese, though it contains neither liver or cheese).
Put all this on a plate with home fries and sauerkraut, and I'm a happy camper. Still, that pork shank is great - can I have two "usuals" at this restaurant?
