HMS Bronington 2010

by Tired Pal?

12 October 2010, a sunny day in Birkenhead. It was too tempting to not go onboard the deserted HMS Bronington, a Ton class minesweeper.
The last time I had been onboard a 'Ton' was October 1967 when I went on weekend exercise in HMS Mersey M1173 with the Mersey division RNR.
HMS Bronington was in a terrible state of deterioration. She is now even more neglected after sinking at her berth in Gillbrook Basin, West Float. There is new interest in raising funds to re-float her for repair and preservation. Thirteen years later it still hasn't happened.
