The original brick building was constructed in the early 1900's and has been a bastion of the Sterling waterfront for over 100 years. It is in remarkably good condition, thanks to the efforts of its owners who slowly built up their core hardware business and never layed off workers in the 100 plus years they owned the company.Increased foreign imports caused National to sell out to Stanley in 2005,who in turn were bought out by Black and Decker in 2009.
