The British Army was backed against the James River and was unable to cross to escape the Americans. It was said a violent storm which included a tornado swamped and destroyed most of their ships. Washington and our French allies continued to bombard the British and built closer trench lines until the British were forced to surrender at Yorktown, effectively ending the war...
