stayin' dry....

While fixing pasture fence taken out by Wednesday's washout,I came across this scene.The high water meant only the cows could be "cooling" off while the poor calfs had to stay on the bank.Hopefully the water will continue to recede,allowing the calfs to take a "dip"!

 

Went to a crop insurance meeting yesterday where we learned that 39 million acres will not be in production this year due to flooding and poor soil conditions.The commodity price has started to respond,but how much will we have to sell? I finished my corn the last "plantable" day,which was over 2 weeks ago. In those 2 weeks,we have received nearly 7" of rain which have both washed out crops and fertlizer.The corn is up,but my expectations are pretty low....
