IMG_8995-1(W) Malayan Flying Frog (Zhangixalus prominanus)

Location: Lowland forest of Selangor.

 

Now it is reclassified as Zhangixalus prominanus. Previously Rhacophorus prominanus.

Also known as Jor Flying Frog, Jade Gliding Frog, Johre Flying Frog, or Red Webbed Gliding Frog.

Malay name: Katak Pokok Terbang Malaya

Size: Female 7.6 cm, Male 6.2 cm

 

I was quite surprised to find this sp. in the lowland forest because in the literature and my past experience, this is a highland species.

 

I haven't seen this species for a couple of years, by no mean they are not rare but I just don't herp in the area(s) that this sp is usually found.
