Bond 250

Another shot of the rare Bond 750 at Stratford on Avon. A friend had one of these and informed me of some long forgotten facts. Firstly you only required a motorbike licence. The body was Aluminium, the engine was the Villiers 250cc unit. This retained its kick start, so if the battery let you down you could open the bonnet and kick start it. No screen heaters, bit of problem in the cold weather. In those days you could buy a stick on heater from Halfords etc, which did little to help the battery, that's were the kick start comes in. There was also something strange about the gearbox. I THINK it had three or four forward gears. To get reverse you stopped the engine, and selected reverse, which gave you the same number of gears going backward. This should have been the original Bond film car, after a long ride in one of these you were left " Shaken and not stirred". Would love to hear more facts about this British classic, they did a good job in there day.
