St. John the Baptist Church in Yaropolets

The first church in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist in the village of Yaropolets was built in 1626, but this wooden church has not survived to this day. The earliest building of the estate that has survived to this day is the stone Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist, built in 1751-1755.

The temple was closed in the 1930s, worship services ceased, the building was used as a dormitory, and then as a club and cinema. The church was quite lucky; it was not damaged during the Great Patriotic War. Services in the Church of St. John the Baptist have been going on for 25 years, but it has still not been handed over to the church. The building needs restoration. Help for the restoration of the temple is provided only by the parish and patrons of the arts.
