Cathedral windows

The windows of the Resurrection Cathedral of the New Jerusalem Monastery. A distinctive feature of the cathedral was the architectural ceramics that adorned its interiors and facades, made in the second half of the 17th century in the ceramic workshop of the monastery. This is a unique architectural ceramics, which no longer has its own counterpart in Russian architecture.

According to the plan of Patriarch Nikon, the Resurrection Cathedral was built in the image of the Romanesque Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. It is known that during its construction a drawing of the Jerusalem temple was used.
