Monastic architecture

Buildings on the territory of the New Jerusalem Monastery. City of Istra. Moscow region. Russia.

Fraternal Corps, Ephraim Tower, Church of the Three Great Hierarchs.

A brick church at the Hospital Chambers of the monastery, built in 1698 at the expense of Princess Tatyana Mikhailovna. The building in the spirit of the Moscow baroque originally ended with a two-tiered octagon. Burned out in 1726, re-consecrated in 1776. Presumably, finally abolished in con. 18th century during the restructuring of the chambers into a palace, however, it is also mentioned in the inventory of 1876. During the restructuring, the altar and the dome were dismantled, but the main quadrangle of the temple survived. In 1941 the building was badly damaged, in 1962 it was partially restored. The new altar apse and four-pitched roof with dome were made in 2014-2016.
