Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I cordially congratulate all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The photograph snowy Znamensky church in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region. Russia.
The Gubailovo Wasteland, where the Znamensky Church was subsequently built, was first mentioned as part of the territory of the Goretov Camp of the Moscow District at the beginning of the 17th century. Then these lands were received by the boyar Semyon Vasilyevich Volynsky from Tsar Mikhail Romanov. The family of Semyon Volynsky goes back to the participant of the Kulikovo battle Dimitri Volynsky (companion of the Holy Blessed Prince Dimitri Donskoy). Then the land passed into the possession of his nephew Ivan Fedorovich Volynsky. Ivan Fedorovich and built in 1683 a modest church with a small refectory and a bell tower in honor of the Sign of the Most Holy Theotokos. The church was performed in a tiered composition "octagonal on a quadruple", which later became widespread, and for that time it was a rarity.
The descendant of Volynsky Dolgorukov-Krymsky Vasily Mikhailovich built the Znamenskoye-Gubailovo estate around the temple, and in 1771 he rebuilt the Znamenskaya church. The temple was consecrated in 1773.
On the left is the Chapel-Tomb. The chapel was decorated with artistic ceramics of the Abramtsevo Pottery Factory and is a unique monument of the neo-Russian style. The uniqueness of this monument is that the entire decoration of the facades and interior is completely made in ceramic material. Tiles are the main element of the architectural decoration here.
During the years of persecution against the Church, the monument of history and culture was destroyed. The entire ceramic decor of the chapel-tomb was lost. Only one fragment of the tape (frieze) has survived, but this allows the missing details to be restored.
In 2007, the restoration of the chapel began. Currently, three gilded chapters with crosses, valances, brickwork, hand-made ceramic ploughshare have been recreated.
