The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin is located in the historical center of Nizhny Novgorod, at the confluence of the Oka and the Volga, it was here that the history of the city began in the 13th century. The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin was built as the main stronghold in protecting Moscow from the attack of the troops of the Kazan Khanate.

Over its life, the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin withstood numerous sieges and attacks of enemies and has never been taken by storm, and its last battle pages relate to Polish intervention in the early 17th century, when a militia was formed under the leadership of Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky.

In total, the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin has 13 towers, of which five are square with gates and eight round. Their height is from 18 to 30 meters, they are interconnected by a fortress wall, the width of which reaches five meters, and the height - from 12 to 22 meters.
