Currently, there are about 600 million domestic cats in the world, about 200 breeds have been bred, from longhair (Persian cat) to hairless (sphinxes), recognized and registered by various felinological organizations.
For 10,000 years, cats have been valued by humans, including for their ability to hunt rodents and other domestic pests.
According to the superstitions that have survived to this day, cats are considered the guardians of the hearth and comfort. For housewarming, it is customary to let a cat into the house first. Due to the ability of cats to land on their feet during a fall, it is believed that they have a special “sixth sense” and that they have nine lives. There is a superstition in Russia that black cats are harbingers of failure, especially if someone cat crosses the road. Czechs, on the other hand, believe that a cat that crosses the road from right to left, on the contrary, is a harbinger of luck.
