How to make extra money....not a very snappy title, but I decided to do a post on something people are actually searching for instead of babbling about the latest greasy spoon I enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, there will be a lot more of those, but this article is in response to a lot of people I hear asking for a way to earn a little money in these lean times.

According to my keyword research, about 10,000 people a month search for the term "how to make extra money". So there is a lot of interest in this topic. Unfortunately according to Google, there are close to 7 million pages online with exact phrase....so if you found this page it is a probably a miracle and you will know it was "meant to be" and you better pay attention. Just kidding. ;>)

 

How To Make Extra Money - All You Need Is A Phone And A Smile!

Let's get started. Ok, there is a reason I picked a smiling woman talking on the phone as an image for this article. To implement this method, you will need a phone and you will need to be smiling when you make the easy calls I am going to suggest you make.

I know, making calls is not for everyone....I personally hate it. But, if you want to make $500 a day, like this technique is going to show you how to do, then maybe you can grit your teeth, smile and dial for some dollars.

But.....I am getting ahead of myself. We first need to figure out WHO you are going to call. For that, we are going to use Google and specifically something called Google Places.

Your first step is to go to the Google search engine and type in some local service as if you were looking in the Yellow Pages.....for example: plumbers. However, you want to be more exact and type in something like: plumbers athens ga.

As the results from google are displayed, you will notice some of them have a little red pin image next to them and it will say something to the right about "places page" for you to click on. These are the Google Places listings and google has done one for millions and millions of local businesses for free.

To the left of the page it will show various types of searches you can narrow down, and you will want to pick the one that says "places" to only get google places listings.

Now, after narrowing down, go to the second page of the Places listings. Starting at the top click on the listing for the first business...or more easily, "right click" and choose to open that page up in a new tab. You can quickly go down the page right clicking and opening new tabs for each one.

Once you have done that, go to the first open tab listing and look at the top right of the page. It will say something like "Owner verified listing", OR.... it will say "Business Owner?". If it says Business Owner? you want to keep the tab open. If it says Owner Verified Listing, close it.

Once you have a gone through the list and found some of these on page 2 or further back, it is time to call them. I have a script you can use, however once you read it you will see this is an easy short call to make and you can adjust it to suit your personality. Here is what you will be saying:

Hello, may I speak to the owner or manager? (assuming you end up with the owner or manager...proceed)

 

My name is ____ and I work for a LOCAL SEO company. We work and live right here in (your town), so we really are local.

 

I'd like to ask for just two minutes of your time to tell you about something that I know nobody else has ever told you about related to ranking on Google.

 

I know nobody else has told you because you would be ranking in Google if they had.
