On August 1919, an aviator, the regimental sergeant major Charles Godefroy, flew under the 14.6 meters of the "Arc de Triomphe" vault. It was then a question of protesting against the insufficient place granted to aviation at the time of the large procession of July 14, 1919 Victory.
