Vooraf hoop je om half tien in de avond op een zonsondergang die de hemel van fraaie kleuren voorziet, maar ..... dat was duidelijk niet het geval bij ons bezoek aan de Forth Bridge. Een spoorbrug van 125 jaar oud (geopend in 1890) behoeft echter geen opsmuk en is ook bij deze licht-omstandigheden een icoon. Deze spoorbrug verbindt de oevers van de Firth of Forth in Schotland en ligt tussen de plaatsen North Queensferry en Queensferry (nabij Edinburgh). Dit type brug staat ook wel bekend als cantileverbrug. De brug werd in 2015 op de Werelderfgoedlijst van de UNESCO geplaatst. Avondfoto's met de uitverlichte brug volgen t.z.t .in dit theater.
The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles (14 kilometres) west of Edinburgh City Centre and was inaugurated in 1890. It is considered an iconic structure and a symbol of Scotland, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
