Phantom Sunset
Standing in this location at sunset was an epic experience. I just can't get enough of Phantom Falls, and for quite some time I have wanted a shot of the Phantom at either sunset or sunrise. Sunrise would be much more ideal this time of year, but a few months ago the position of the sun would have been perfect to light up the entire canyon (realized that after this one...miscalculated a bit).
Ben and I stayed all the way until the afterglow light was gone (more to share from the other side of the canyon), and it was an eerie walk back to the car in the pouring rain, cross country to the car, dodging cow patties and trying not to break an ankle on the loose rock. Ben wanted to stay and take turns light painting cow patties for a sweet foreground with that huge tree near the parking lot in the background, but I thought we better pack it up and get back to our ever so patient wives (J/K!!!;-) I would imagine that wildflowers have completely exploded up there now, and only have a short time left.
