Philip Lardner

Vote for Commons Sense!

Sacked Conservative and Unionist Party candidate for North Ayrshire Philip Lardner.

Philip is now standing as an independent (though his ballot paper will state Conservative and Unionist Party). He is campaigning for 'free speech' and the re-introduction of Section 2a (section 28 in England).

I asked Philip how many 'constituents' had contacted him concerning the 'promotion of homosexuality' in local schools and asking for the re-introduction of section 2A. One or two he told me.

I asked him why he was turning his campaign into a personal crusade rather than standing up and fighting for the real concerns of people in North Ayrshire. He told me he had simply expressed his personal beliefs and as a result had been thrown out of the Conservative Party by David Cameron, and now he had no choice but to make his stand.

He also told me that David Cameron would make a rubbish Prime Minister anyway.

I asked his sponsor and retired Largs Academy Maths Teacher, Tom Marshall(my Maths Teacher incidentally), if he really felt that children were being indoctrinated in homosexuality (to use old Tory term) and was he concerned about this issue when he was teaching and is he concerned about it today. Tom told me no, it's not generally an issue in Scottish Schools but it has been in some Schools in England. So it's not a local issue then I replied. Tom replied that he would defend Philips right to his personal beliefs.

I expressed my disappointment to both Tom and Philip that they and the local Conservative Party were running a homophobic campaign in Largs and North Ayrshire. I urged them to re-think their current campaign.
