The backlog, part III (late 2016/early 2017)
The first MOC I finished after moving to Japan, though the initial concept began before then when the new X-Wing canopy came out with the first wave of TFA sets. The moment I saw it I wanted to frame it using the various wedge parts here. The rest developed incrementally, and it was the better part of a year before it arrived at a finished state. X-Wing cockpit aside, the Y-Wing and Snowspeeder were the more dominant inspirations here. I remember I was also interested to try a more eye-catching black as opposed to greyscale greebling.
I think this is where I started to plateau with my part transitions, and from thereafter I decided to focus more on aesthetic and color, which I was beginning to become dissatisfied with in my work.
新しいＸウィングのキャノピーパーツを見たとき、形の似ているウェッジパーツに合わせて使うというアイデアが思い浮かべました。何ヶ月作り続いて、日本に引っ越してから初めて仕上げた作品となりました。Ｘウィングのパーツがきっかけだったと言っても、全体のデザインはＹウィングやスノースピーダーからの影響の方が強かったです。ディテールアップがいつものグレーと違って、もっと目立ちますかな。
今振り替えたら、この辺がそれまで用いたテクニーク（パーツの形合わせなど）の限界に近づいたところだと思います。そこからテクニークより美学を見直して進める方がいいという風に考えました。
