This flower is a hummingbird magnet: Salvia coccinea (common names: Blood Sage,

Scarlet Sage, Texas Sage and of course, Hummingbird Sage). Each blossom is no more than 2.5 cm (1 inch) high. In this climate it is unfortunately an annual and must be planted again each spring.
