Farewell to the Peak District for 2023

My final shot of my 3 day trip is fittingly filled by 60074 arriving early at Peak Forest due to yet another rail strike.

Saturday mornings, whilst not as busy as weekdays are still reasonable at Peak Forest given the volume of aggregates currently being railed out of the area.

As can be seen the track into Dove Holes quarry on the right is still subject to water logging, despite huge efforts to improve the drainage in the area. water could be seen to be visibly flowing - in July 2023, the UK "summer"

Working is the 6H03 Warrington Arpley - Tunstead hoppers (ex Northwich) which will be loaded and depart back to Northwich just after 4pm.

The weather soon caved after this shot with very heavy showers.

From August 2023 this is rumoured to be the last booked service for a DB Class 60 in the UK...
