simple realities of daily life

It’s a rainy morning—no empty table in the coffee shop. I share a table with a stranger (a young guy). He works on the computer; I open my book. I stared out the window; a woman had just walked by with a blue-yellow umbrella (colors of the Ukrainian flag). My espresso is bitter, but that’s how I like it. It costs $3 now, but you get unlimited drinking water for free, which is a good deal when one lives in Brooklyn. And with today’s inflation, even free water is a great deal. But 30 minutes of espresso with a book is the fav part of my daily routine. So simple, and yet it makes my day.
