Never too late to dream
Since I was a kid i have always believed in magic. When I was eight or nine years old my friend asked where would I like to live. After watching 'Santa Barbara', America of course ! Every night (and my family still remembers this) I saw the same dream. I was in a cab at night passing by incredibly beautiful streets, surrounded by bright lights. Leaving a car I walked into a restaurant where no one could speak my language. All signs were in foreign language, I was no longer in Ukraine. Months after our conversation my mom got sick, and my dad kicked me out of the house to stay with grandparents. Economically my country's situation was getting worse and worse. No food in stores, no light, no gas, no hot water. One day I refused to study, because at 11 I decided it's useless to get education in a place where people did not get paid for 6 months (teachers, doctors, pharmacist). Being only 11 I could not help but think about the future (if I had any). Every day just hung around with older guys and girls, cursing like a sailor. I think being a kid, I hit the lowest of the low. And then we got papers to move to New York. I was so overwhelmed by the opportunity life has given me, that I started to become someone I didn't think I could be. When slowly I started to become one of my teacher's fav in Junior High, no one knew I was nothing but a troubled kid pulling myself out of the gut. And to this day I believe if you want something and believe in something strong enough it will come true.
