Unidentified cl 40 with small yellow panel is northbound on the fast line. The overhead electrics are being installed but the semaphores are still controlling all lines. The small 10 lever Ashton box in the background and it looks like one of the wagons from the Toton-Stonebridge Park coal trains is dumped in the headshunt....a very fascinating scene from 1964....Ashton box was abolished on and from Sep 27 1964 when the multiple aspect colour lights took over on this section. Full electric service was still 18 months away.
