Forerunner of the rebuilt Royal Scots was 6170 'British Legion'. Although lumped in with the Scots it was non standard with the rest of class having been formerly 6399 'Fury' the experimental high pressure loco that blew up at Carstairs station in 1934. Seen here as M6170 its short lived first BR number before becoming 46170.
