Up River Trader
On the 21st July 2023 the Hull built 'River Trader' (1989, 1,399 DWT) is seen at Dunball in Somerset having arrived with a transformer from Portland.
The 174 tonne transformer was for the upgrading the Bridgwater substation to support the 57 kilometer high voltage power lines connecting the new Hinkley Point 'C' power station.
The former 'Hoo Beech' is the last of the Yorkshire Dry Dock series of economy coasters in service in Northern European waters and made a fine sight on the mud of the River Parrot. This is the second coaster to visit this long closed wharf in recent years with a transformer linked to upgrading of power lines for the new Hinkley Point 'C' power station.
