On the 20th April 2019 Class 47/4 no. 47851 passes Black Moss with the 2Z04 1106 Windermere to Oxenholme Lake District.
Loco hauled shuttle services were provided for two days over Easter to support replacement bus services whilst the West Coast Mainline was closed for engineering. The services proved to be very popular with standing roon only on some services on a lovely Easter weekend and are rumoured to be happening again in May.
With rolling stock neeeding to meet disability access rules after January 2020 this could be one of the last times Class 47s are used on public passenger services. I made a last minute decision to head to the Lakes when a picture appeared on Facebook of the pair of 47s in Oxenholme station late on Friday night.
