The Con - Sydney Conservatorium of Music
The redeveloped Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Conservatorium High School incorporate the former Government Stables, designed by colonial architect Francis Greenway and built by convict workers between 1817 and 1821.
In 1915 work began to convert the stables into a new conservatorium of music to the design of Richard Seymour Wells. In 1997 the NSW Government announced plans to redevelop the site to provide world-class music education facilities. The design concept prepared by Chris Johnson NSW Government Architect in conjuction with Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke, integrates modern architectural design with the heritage buildings.
