Dior - Sydney
It has been 65 years since Christian Dior first visited Australia, but the iconic French fashion house have at last opened a flagship store on Sydney’s Castlereagh Street.
Designed in the style of a grand Parisian apartment, with over a dozen distinct rooms, the store spans four storeys and features women’s ready to wear, menswear, timepieces, accessories and fine jewellery.
No detail was forgotten in the construction of the store, which took the better half of last year and features luxurious limestone, marble and silk carpeted floors. Curtains borrow their inspiration from couture with 'hand-stitched' style details while Swarovski-smattered flat chandeliers and 'lucky star' light fittings fill the ceilings.
Dior opened its first Australian boutique in 1999, in Sydney’s Rocks district, but the new Castlereagh flagship marks the first time Australians have been privy to the full Dior experience. Globally, the brand is moving away from small boutiques, concentrating instead on expansive retail palaces that showcase the brand’s full range of products.
The Dior flagship store will be open at 65 Castlereagh St from February 1st (2013).
