Megalopyge lanata Caterpillar

 

I am just finalizing my plans to travel to Peru in January, to go downriver from Iquitos in the Amazon and to spend 9 or so days at a couple of primitive camps along the Rio Orosi. I have been down there perhaps 5 times and it is a remarkable place. Every bush, every tree has some interesting herp or "bug" on or around it, and a slow walk can be so productive.
