Questo bel paese inserito in prossimità delle Prealpi Friulane è famoso non solo per il suo castello che ha ospitato Ippolito Nievo che qui ha scritto il suo celebre "Le confessioni di un Italiano" ma ha subito gravissimi danni nel terremoto del 1976.
Per fortuna la ricostruzione ha lenito le antiche ferite e ora si presenta, al turista di passaggio, con una compostezza ed un ordine tipico della gente friulana.
In questi ultimi anni è salito agli onori delle cronache per essere il paese natale della splendida show girl Samira Lui.
