IL CHIOSTRO DEL SANTUARIO
Il Santuario, posto sul colle a dominare e proteggere Vicenza, è dedicato alla Madonna di Monte Berico, che è anche la patrona della città. Qui, da quasi sei secoli, i Servi di Maria accolgono ogni anno migliaia di fedeli provenienti da tutta Italia e dall’estero.
La Basilica di Monte Berico fu eretta nel Quattrocento, dopo le apparizioni della Vergine Maria a Vincenza Pasini. La Madonna prometteva la fine della peste e chiedeva che in quel luogo le fosse dedicata una chiesa. Così nel 1428, in pochi mesi, sorse la prima chiesetta tardogotica e un piccolo cenobio per ospitare una comunità religiosa dedita all'accoglienza dei pellegrini.

THE CLOISTER OF THE SANCTUARY
The Sanctuary, located on the hill overlooking and protecting Vicenza, is dedicated to Our Lady of Monte Berico, who is also the city's patron saint. Here, for nearly six centuries, the Servants of Mary have welcomed thousands of faithful from all over Italy and abroad every year.
The Basilica of Monte Berico was built in the 15th century, following the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Vincenza Pasini. Our Lady promised an end to the plague and requested that a church be dedicated to her on that site. Thus, in 1428, within a few months, the first late-Gothic church and a small monastery were built to house a religious community dedicated to welcoming pilgrims.
