SESTO AL REGHENA. L'ABBAZIA
LA CRIPTA
L'antica Abbazia Benedettina Santa Maria in Silvis di Sesto al Reghena, fondata nella prima metà dell'VIII secolo, ospita una vasta esposizione di reperti lapidei e sculture, dall'epoca romana fino al Medioevo.
L'Abbazia, devastata dagli Ungari nel 889, risorse fortificata e assunse l'aspetto di castello medioevale con un sistema difensivo formato da torri e fossati.
Nella cripta si conservano l'urna di Santa Anastasia, splendido monumento di età longobarda, la quattrocentesca Pietà in pietra arenaria da attribuire ad un maestro tedesco, e l'Annunciazione risalente agli inizi del XIV secolo.

THE CRYPT
The ancient Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria in Silvis in Sesto al Reghena, founded in the first half of the 8th century, houses a vast exhibition of stone artifacts and sculptures, dating from Roman times to the Middle Ages.
The Abbey, devastated by the Hungarians in 889, was rebuilt and fortified, taking on the appearance of a medieval castle with a defensive system of towers and moats.
The crypt houses the urn of Saint Anastasia, a splendid monument from the Lombard period, the 15th-century sandstone Pietà attributed to a German master, and the Annunciation dating back to the early 14th century.
