UNO SGUARDO VERSO IL LAGO DI SAURIS, LAGGIU' IN FONDO....
Dalla statale 52 all’altezza di Ampezzo, una strada avventurosa risale nelle Alpi Carniche la gola della val Lumiei – il ponte che la valica è alto 150 metri sul torrente – verso lo spettacolare lago artificiale e il comune di Sauris, che nell’antico tedesco locale si chiama Zahre e che in termini di altitudini va da quota 766 a quota 2474.
Pascoli e abetaie su forti dislivelli, ma senza rocce dominanti, inquadrano l’azzurro dello specchio d’acqua e i borghi dove si è preservata una parlata medievale di matrice tedesca.
Attorno al lago sono notevoli i panorami che si possono ammirare da Lateis, raggiungibile attraverso una ripida salita. Un percorso alternativo fra Ampezzo e Sauris si snoda in mezzo a boschi di conifere dalla tortuosa strada che supera il passo Pura, a un’altitudine di 1425 metri; accanto al valico si trovano il Rifugio Tita Piaz e il sentiero naturalistico Tiziana Weiss, che sale fin quasi a 2000 metri.

A LOOK TOWARDS LAKE SAURIS, DOWN THERE....
From state road 52 at Ampezzo, an adventurous road climbs up the Val Lumiei gorge in the Carnic Alps – the bridge that crosses it is 150 meters high over the stream – towards the spectacular artificial lake and the municipality of Sauris, which in the local ancient German is called Zahre and which in terms of altitudes ranges from 766 to 2474.
Pastures and fir forests on steep slopes, but without dominant rocks, frame the blue of the body of water and the villages where a medieval dialect of German origin has been preserved.
The views around the lake are remarkable and can be admired from Lateis, which can be reached via a steep climb. An alternative route between Ampezzo and Sauris winds through coniferous forests along the winding road that crosses the Pura Pass, at an altitude of 1,425 metres; next to the pass are the Rifugio Tita Piaz and the Tiziana Weiss nature trail, which climbs to almost 2,000 metres.
