MONTE PIZZOC. PIAZZA DELLA PACE

Dalla sommità del monte Pizzoc, nelle giornate limpide, verso sud si può godere di un eccezionale quanto vasto panorama che va dai Colli Euganei alle lagune, dalla pianura friulana al golfo di Trieste e all’Istria; a nord invece si possono osservare i monti dell’Alpago e le Dolomiti venete; ad est, la Foresta e la Piana del Cansiglio, il gruppo del Cavallo; ad ovest il Col Visentin, la Vallata e i laghi di Tarzo e di Revine.
La cima, detta Piazza della Pace (la piazza più alta d’Europa), riporta tuttora i segni lasciati dalla cava di carbonato di calcio (dimessa e spostata poi a mezzo monte, in località Le Jére, che però, negli anni ’50, rovinò a valle con tutto lo stabilimento); ben visibili sono tuttora i piloni della teleferica che trasportavano il materiale al cementificio dell’Italcementi di Vittorio V.to.

From the top of Mount Pizzoc, on clear days, towards the south you can enjoy an exceptional and vast panorama that goes from the Euganean Hills to the lagoons, from the Friulian plain to the Gulf of Trieste and Istria; to the north you can observe the Alpago mountains and the Venetian Dolomites; to the east, the Forest and the Cansiglio Plain, the Cavallo group; to the west, Col Visentin, the Valley and the lakes of Tarzo and Revine.
The top, called Piazza della Pace (the highest square in Europe), still bears the marks left by the calcium carbonate quarry (disused and then moved halfway up the mountain, to Le Jére, which however, in the 1950s, ruined downstream with the entire factory); The pylons of the cableway that transported the material to the Italcementi cement factory in Vittorio V.to are still clearly visible.
