PINOCCHIO NEL PAESE DEI BALOCCHI
"
....Pinocchio va in cerca del suo migliore amico, lo svogliato studente Romeo, detto "Lucignolo" a causa della sua magrezza. Dopo averlo cercato a lungo, lo trova finalmente sotto il portico di una casa di campagna: questi gli dice che sta aspettando il carro che lo porterà al Paese dei Balocchi, un paese dove non esistono scuole e dove gli abitanti si divertono da mattino a sera. Pinocchio aspetta con Lucignolo la mezzanotte per salutare la sua partenza ma, all'arrivo del carro, guidato da un omino grassottello, si fa convincere e parte con loro. Giunti nel Paese dei Balocchi i due si danno alla pazza gioia diventando amici di tutti.
Dopo cinque mesi di cuccagna, un bel giorno Pinocchio si sveglia e scopre che le sue orecchie sono diventate come quelle di un asino. Una piccola marmotta vicina di casa, accorsa alle sue grida disperate, gli diagnostica una febbre da somaro, malattia che colpisce i ragazzi che passano troppo tempo a divertirsi e a non fare nulla anziché studiare, che nel giro di due o tre ore l'avrebbe completamente trasformato in un somaro. Il burattino si precipita da Lucignolo e scopre che anche a lui sono cresciute le orecchie da somaro: dapprima i due ridono a crepapelle per quella loro buffa condizione ma poi si disperano quando si accorgono che si stanno trasformando rapidamente in somari. Appena completata la trasformazione, il cocchiere del carro li conduce alla piazza del mercato per venderli. Scoprono così che quell'omino malvagio era diventato ricco raccogliendo i ragazzi svogliati di tutto il mondo e conducendoli nel Paese dei Balocchi, dove diventavano in poco tempo dei veri e propri somari, che poi lui vendeva al mercato....."

The puppet rushes to Lucignolo and discovers that he too has grown donkey ears: at first the two laugh out loud at their funny condition but then they get desperate when they realize that they are rapidly turning into donkeys. As soon as the transformation is complete, the coachman of the wagon takes them to the market square to sell them. Thus they discover that that evil little man had become rich by gathering listless boys from all over the world and taking them to the Land of Toys, where in a short time they became real donkeys, which he then sold at the market ..... "
