MACAONE.
Tra le farfalle presenti in Italia, le farfalle macaone sono considerate, da molti, le più belle grazie alla particolare livrea e al volo leggiadro.
La farfalla macaone (nome scientifico Papilio machaon) è abbastanza comune nelle zone di campagna. Molto simile al macaone è il podalirio (specie Iphiclides podalirius) che per la netta somiglianza è chiamata falso macaone o falsa farfalla macaone. Se la somiglianza è netta nello stadio adulto (quindi nella forma di farfalla), le differenze sono assolutamente rilevanti nella forma di bruco.
Nel suo stadio adulto, quindi nella sua forma di farfalla, il macaone vive solo 2 settimane.
Il macaone ama gli spazi aperti come le grandi praterie, i prati fioriti, terreni incolti con fiori selvatici… tuttavia, negli orti biologici dove non usi pesticidi, non è raro ritrovarla tra i fiori delle coltivazioni o nei giardini.

Among the butterflies present in Italy, swallowtail butterflies are considered by many to be the most beautiful thanks to their particular livery and graceful flight.
The swallowtail butterfly (scientific name Papilio machaon) is quite common in countryside areas. Very similar to the swallowtail is the podalirio (species Iphiclides podalirius) which due to its clear resemblance is called false swallowtail or false swallowtail butterfly. If the similarity is clear in the adult stage (therefore in the butterfly form), the differences are absolutely relevant in the caterpillar form.
In its adult stage, therefore in its butterfly form, the swallowtail lives only 2 weeks.
The swallowtail loves open spaces such as large prairies, flowering meadows, uncultivated land with wild flowers... however, in organic gardens where you do not use pesticides, it is not uncommon to find it among the flowers of the crops or in the gardens.
