LA CATTEDRALE.
La cattedrale di Ferrara, meglio nota come basilica Cattedrale di San Giorgio, sorge al centro della città, di fronte al Palazzo Comunale, a fianco della antica Piazza delle Erbe (ora piazza Trento e Trieste), non lontano dal Castello Estense, collegata al Palazzo Arcivescovile attraverso una volta coperta.
Suggestivo anche il Campanile della Cattedrale realizzato nel 1451-1493 con caratteri dello stile rinascimentale nel 1412 furono realizzate le fondamenta mentre la struttura della torre fu innalzata nel 1450. Fu ultimato nella sua forma attuale alla fine del sedicesimo secolo ma rimasto tuttavia incompleto.
Questo imponente Campanile fu progettato e realizzato completamente con una bicromia di marmi bianchi e rosa che rendono la sua immagine particolare e suggestiva.
La sua progettazione viene attribuita al famoso architetto genovese Leon Battista Alberti,una delle figure artistiche più poliedriche del Rinascimento, ma non è per niente sicura questa attribuzione.
La ripresa sbilenca si e' resa necessaria per poter inquadrare tutto l'edificio sacro.

THE CATHEDRAL.
The Cathedral of Ferrara, better known as the Cathedral Basilica of San Giorgio, stands in the city center, opposite the Palazzo Comunale, next to the ancient Piazza delle Erbe (now Piazza Trento e Trieste), not far from the Estense Castle, connected to the Archbishop's Palace by a covered vault.
The Cathedral's Bell Tower, built between 1451 and 1493 in Renaissance style, is also striking. The foundations were laid in 1412, while the tower structure was raised in 1450. It was completed in its current form at the end of the sixteenth century but remained incomplete.
This imposing Bell Tower was designed and constructed entirely of a two-tone combination of white and pink marble, giving it a distinctive and evocative appearance.
Its design is attributed to the famous Genoese architect Leon Battista Alberti, one of the most versatile artistic figures of the Renaissance, but this attribution is by no means certain.
The crooked shot was necessary to frame the entire sacred building.
