Grey Seal pup
Halichoerus grypus. One of over 700 really cute seal pups at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire. This is a young pup, probably less than a week old and he seemed to like chewing the end of his flipper. Perhaps this is like a child biting their finger nails or a baby sucking their thumb, who knows? In another couple of weeks he will have grown a lot, shed his white puppy fur and will head off alone into the north sea. Amazing that they enter the sea for the first time and then learn to fish very quickly.
