During the spring of 2008 the Marine Current Turbine which had been asembled at Harland and Wolf was transported by barge to Strangford Lough. The image shows an early stage of commissioning with the rotors out of the water for inspection. The rotors can turn with either tidal direction generating an output of 1.3 mega wats of electricity
